Here comes ULU!

Apr 1st 2019

What is named ULU! is botanically described as breadfruit tree. In its natural home, on the islands of Samoa, the ULU is an important source of food as its fruits contain plenty of starch, which can be baked to bread.

That is where visionary Garry Grüber, owner and director of Cultivaris started to develop his idea to bring ULU! to the world. After having signed a commercializiation agreement with the bread fruit institute in Hawaii Garry´s research focused on the multiplication of these plants in-vitro. It took him more than a decade to create a stable process to be able to build up a supply chain of ULU! young plants. Now it is time to reap the rewards. But it is not only about selling the product, Garry has also entered a benefit sharing concept which brings a dollar per plant back to its genetic resource Samoa. This has always been Garry´s dream. Together with RiPlant and professional indoor plant growers he is now at the initial phase to bring ULU! to the world! First commercial sales to consumers will start in 2020, so be ready!
